This Key West inspired project was designed by Jen Kravchuk, senior designer at award-winning Decker Ross Interiors in Clearwater. Kravchuk’s utilization of bright colorful accents and industrial touches throughout creates an inviting, comfortable living space that is filled with interesting memory points.
The client’s desire for a peaceful, tropical relaxed atmosphere informed the design direction and allowed Kravchuk the
freedom to incorporate playful, whimsical elements in various locations throughout the property. Accessorizing with buoys and hanging colorful oars on the wall exemplifies the fun, beachy vibe that is at the heart of this design.

Bold, colorful prints in various fabrics, like linen and chenille, offer variety and interest to this tranquil residence. Hard metal and glass surfaces are softened by natural woven items and wood to bring another layer of textural contrast to the mix. Vintage coastal art, seeded glass vases, driftwood accents and rope accessories add focal points and dimension to the eclectic coastal design aesthetic.

As with any project, Kravchuk tailors her designs to suit her client’s particular taste, lifestyle and price point. This playful Key West paradise is no exception.

Bright pops of color accentuate this seating area. The round woven cocktail table adds a natural element to the design and sits atop an angular patterned area rug of blues and citron. The linen coral patterned drapery panels and the abstract coastal art of the shoreline bring a continuation of the color palette to the area.
Unique architectural details are prevalent throughout, including the conical whitewashed brick ceiling by local artist Jesse Wilhelm, which adds grandeur to this circular entry. The iron tiered candelabra chandelier appears to be made for this unusual space, both in scale and shape. Large airy leafy fronds sit atop a round wood trestle base pedestal table and braided area rug to add another focal point and anchor the space.
Open wood shelving featuring industrial pipe supports offers a smart visual division between living and dining spaces and provides the perfect perch to display a blended variety of coastal accessories, including a fun pewter octopus. A creative arrangement of framed art incorporates
the contemporary wall sconce as an integral part of the gallery wall, which is located above a classic white dimensional paneled wainscoting. Nailhead trim accentuates the shape of the transitional wing dining chairs in gray chenille.
This reading nook offers a space for quiet conversation or contemplation. Designer touches abound from the custom window seat cushion and pillows to the seeded spa blue glass vase and rope ball nestled around a lovely orchid in a handcrafted bowl of whitewashed driftwood
pieces on the cocktail table.
