While shopping around for a permanent home with more storage, a retiring couple from Texas decided they really didn’t want to sell their beautiful waterfront vacation condo on Island Estates in Clearwater, making the decision to renovate it instead. During their home search, they had toured the award winning Carriage Home model at JMC’s Belleview Place in Belleair and had fallen in love with the interior design. They were confident that Marci Tempesta of Decker Ross Interiors was the designer who could transform their dream design into a reality.

This custom-designed recessed coffee bar includes a beverage drawer and provides ample space for drinks and buffet-style serving. Thick floating wood shelves add warmth and textural interest to the wall slab of quartz with its contrasting veining. The coastal flair of the round organic bubble glass light fixture contrasts nicely with the clean lines evident throughout this dining area.
A dramatic quartz wall slab creates a focal feature over the coffee bar to ensure continuity to the design aesthetic by repeating the quartz from the kitchen countertop with waterfall edges. Upholstered Parsons chairs with cut-out backs offer comfortable and stylish seating adjacent to the custom coffee bar.

After meeting with the couple, who communicated their ideas and desires, Tempesta proceeded to develop an elegant coastal-inspired vision featuring a juxtaposition of organic, natural elements and finishes with a clean linear design. A soft toned monochromatic color palette of taupe, grays and beiges runs throughout with the occasional blue accent reflective of the location on the Intracoastal Waterway. Tempesta creatively included storage solutions and utilized a variety of patterns and textures to add depth and interest to the design aesthetic. Her use of warm organic elements, like live edge wood and driftwood, along with sleek hard surfaces, such as glass, metal and quartz, demonstrate her expertise in the design field.

Artisan handmade wallpaper offers a textural backdrop for the large custom L-shaped sectional, which optimizes seating for entertainment and displays an array of colorful throw pillows. A stylish coffee table has sleek brushed nickel inlay and banding with a substantial wood top finished in a rustic gray. Two slate blue leather ottomans with nail head trim detail serve multiple purposes and are easily moved for versatility. An abstract neutral wool area rug anchors the seating area.
The serene master bedroom in neutral beige and sand tones is accented with calming blues that bring the azure water and sky inside for a restful night’s sleep. Tempesta’s eye for finishing touches
is evident from the quad-art series and tasteful accessories on the étagère to the custom drapery panels and throw pillows.

Tempesta and her assistant Katie O’Neil created a luxurious well-appointed design, filled with custom features to suit the couple’s taste and lifestyle perfectly. The former Texans couldn’t be happier with their decision to stay in their newly designed home.
